The Industry Certification Program (ICP) is an eight week program that focuses on teaching the basic skills required to work in the manufacturing industry. Participants must demonstrate competencies in the following areas: - Applied math
- Reading Comprehension
- Locating Information
- Basic computer skills
- Blueprint reading
- Precision measuring
- Introduction to CAD/CAM
The instructional methods include traditional classroom sessions and lab excercises using state of the art equipment and software. The culmination of the ICP includes preparation for the WorkKeys assessment. The WorkKeys assessment: Provides linkages among academic and occupational learning, the job market, and employers. Helps gauge workforce readiness according to core indicators, such as communication, problem- solving, and interpersonal skills. Measures and documents attainment of employability skills for students in vocational education, secondary, and postsecondary programs. Supports the integration of academic and work-readiness skills. Identifies gaps in employability skills so instruction and training can be more effectively targeted. Helps individuals prepare to enter the workforce.
